Website
Only import websites that you have the right to use. Importing shady websites will not work and will get your bot banned.
Website import schedule depends on your plan. Currently, free plans import every 14 days, while paid plans import every 3 days.
Adding a website as a document
- Go to the Documents page in the admin panel
- Click "Add new document" and select "Add a website as a document"
- Change the "documentation url" to link to your documentation. Make sure it's correctly typed.
- Optionally you can enable "follow links on first page". This means the bot first lands on the page you linked and then follows links on that page (but not further).
- You can also configure which channels the document should be used in.
- You can use the "Description" field to add links to find more information. If the bot often misunderstands this document, you can clarify it here.
Whenever the document is used, the bot will always receive the description. For example, you can add
Find more about our plans here: <the URL you imported>
- Click "Save"
- It may take a few minutes for the bot to import the site and process its content. After that, you can view the document it has imported.
Instead of adding each site manually or using the "follow links on first page" feature, you can use the "mass import websites" option to easily import multiple links at once. However, focus on quality over quantity.
While importing websites is easy, it's not always the perfect solution. You probably want to continue improving your documentation too. After all, Wallu's support won't be better than your documentation. Many people end up writing more customized documents or FAQs for Wallu.
Tips for website imports
If you ever have issues that the website content is not importing properly, consider:
- Copy-pasting the content into a plain text document and importing that.
- If the website is a documentation site, consider adding a link to the documentation site in the description of the document.
If Wallu doesn't seem to be able to find the answer from the website, it's possible the document does not directly answer the question. In that case, consider:
- Adding description (for the AI/search system) on your website. E.g.,
you can find the tutorial on how to use product X here: https://example.com/tutorial
instead of just a page with the video. - Consider "How would I make this so even a slightly dumb person could understand it answers that question?"
- Consider if you could add FAQ and link to the website instead of importing the website itself. For example:,
# Instead of importing the config (that has little to no comments), we can link to it in a FAQ
# Or do both!
Q: "Where is the default config? What is the default value for X?"
A: "You can find the default config and values here: https://example.com/config"
You cannot reformat imported websites (as they would be overwritten on the next import). However, if you need to, you can copy the content, edit it and import it as a plain text document.
